GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech sophomore pitcher Xzavion Curry was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced today.
ACC weekly honors are determined by a vote of a select media panel. It is the second ACC weekly honor of Curry’s career, as his first came earlier this month on April 2.
The Tech ace was lights out versus Wake Forest on Friday night, April 27, as the sophomore recorded his first-ever complete-game shutout win. Curry matched his career-high of 12 strikeouts and allowed just two hits and two walks over 9.0-complete innings in the Jackets’ 7-0 win over Wake Forest.
Curry did not allow a hit after the second inning, both of which were soft singles off the end of the bat over the infield, nor did he allow a runner past second base for the entire contest.
Going head-to-head versus projected first-round pick Griffin Roberts of Wake Forest, the Atlanta native closed the game out with seven-hitless innings.
