Grovetown, Ga--Usually in the post season we find teams with two, three, even four seniors starting and leading their teams. For the ladies from Grovetown, just the opposite. The Warriors may be the youngest team still playing, and they just keep finding ways to win.
With just one senior and their leading scorer a freshman, this year's team is something of an oddity as far as experience goes. Sometimes youth can be an advantage. It's been a growing process all year and found their stride in early January. They point to one game that was an indicator of things to come.
"You know when we beat Laney, because they are kind of the standard barrier in the area. I think it showed our kids at least, if we can play with these guys, we can play with anybody, so I think it gave us some confidence and it really showed the last couple of weeks" said Jaime Echols
"We were kind of like, oh that's Laney, that's the big dog. But coach gives us the mindset that we can beat anybody we go against, it's just up to us to have that mindset to know how good we are" said Marrissah Tate
Following that game with Laney, Grovetown developed that can do attitude and it's paid off. Now, they get a home date against Brunswick to start of states on Friday.
