ATLANTA – The Atlanta Braves today announced the club has signed 30 of its 41 picks in the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, including each of its first 16 selections.
In total, Atlanta has 14 pitchers under contract (11 right-handers, three left-handers), seven infielders, six outfielders and three catchers. Teams have until Friday, July 12 at 5:00 p.m. to sign their selections.
The 2019 draft marks the first time the Braves used their top three picks on college players since 2011, when the organization drafted collegiate players with its first four picks. Atlanta signed each of those top three selections last week, and has signed 24 collegians in total. Six of Atlanta’s signed draftees are from the preparatory ranks, including its five highest high school selections.
