Barnwell, SC -- If you're still playing football at this time of year, you're doing something right. Barnwell is the lone team from the River Region still alive in the playoffs and now they're only two wins away from bringing home some serious hardware.
The Warhorses are no stranger to playing this late in the season and the past two years, they've advanced to the Lower-State finals, losing both times. This year could be different seeing they get it on their home turf and the guys are ready to finally get over the hump and know they are well prepared.
"We need to play together. The leadership this year is beyond belief. Even the younger guys, not even the seniors are stepping up," Craig Pender said.
"I think the guys are hungry this year. We're more balanced on both sides. We're playing pretty well on defense and pretty well on offense. So if we're not clicking on one side, the other side picks us up. that's probably been the overall biggest difference," Dwayne Garrick said.
They take on Carvers Bay Friday night. A win would give them the first Lower State title in 20 years.
