Augusta debuts in D2 basketball poll, USC Aiken tumbles

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Augusta University men’s basketball team is ranked 24th in the nation in the most recent NCAA National Rankings, released by the National Association of Basketball Coaches on Tuesday afternoon.

The NABC released the poll for the 14th time this season. The last five teams in this week’s poll are Ashland, Lynn, Saint Anselm, Augusta – appearing in the poll for the first time this season, and Northern State.

The Jaguars are ranked No. 3 in the NCAA Southeast Region and finished the regular season on a 10-game win streak to post a 23-5 overall record and win the Peach Belt Conference Championship. AU is averaging 82.7 points per game and enters the postseason 11-2 at home in the Berry.

Earning the No. 1 seed in the PBC Tournament, Augusta hosts eighth seeded Columbus State in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinal game on Wednesday, March 6 at 7:00 p.m. in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
