Martinez, Ga--The high school year may be winding down, but still, area kids are deciding their future and signing national letters of intent to play at the next level. That was the case at Augusta Prep.
Track and field standout Eddie Perez signs with Villanova in the Big East. Perez, who won the GISA discus and shot put this past weekend, becomes the first thrower in school history to get a shot at the next level.
"Villanova has always been on my college list, and I had taken them out for a little bit. Then,at the last second I added it back in and I was like, I want to go here, I want to throw here. I talked to the coaches and they said it's possible you could throw with us and I committed and I was like, yeah, I'm going here." said Eddie Perez
Perez was worried about the distance from Augusta to Philadelphia, but said, at the end, the chance to throw and education won out over that factor.
