North Augusta, SC-- In a game where neither team had a hit until the 6th inning, it was Augusta starting pitcher Jake Wong who went to 2-1 on the season after he tossed six innings of no-hit baseball, and the GreenJackets (12-11) defeated the Lexington Legends (12-12) by a final score of 5-1.
Wong made his fifth start of the season and retired the first six batters he faced. Jonathan Bowlan was equally as good for Lexington as both pitchers took no-hitters into the 6th inning. Wong finished his day after six innings without allowing a hit and striking-out six. While Bowlan was unable to record an out in the 6th inning.
Nico Giarratano broke up Bowlan’s no-hit bid with a double to start off the 6th inning. Ismael Munguia then singled and brought his hitting streak to 10-games. Jose Layer would drive in the first run of the game to make it 1-0 on a double, and it was Shane Matheny with a two-RBI double to make it 3-0 GreenJackets. Later in the inning, Jacob Gonzalez doubled to make it 4-0.
Bowlan finishes his day after five innings and he allows four runs.
Preston White worked a three-up, three-down 7th for Augusta, but in the 8th, White allowed a leadoff double from Nick Hutchins to end the GreenJackets no-hitter.
In the bottom of the 8th, Jacob Gonzalez finished off a 2-3, 2 RBI day with an RBI triple making it 5-0 Augusta.
The GreenJackets allowed an unearned run in the 9th as Keaton Winn went one inning for the Jackets out of the bullpen.
