Augusta, Ga--It's go time for the winter sports state title runs. Things start off this weekend in the swimming pool at Georgia Tech. A host of area kids will be looking for titles and a chance to stand on the podium when the day is done.

A large contingent from the river region will be headed to Atlanta hoping to bring home a medal Saturday afternoon. Swimming may be the most underappreciated sport in the area with numerous kids having posted wins and signing big time scholarships. This year's crew is no different as the talent runs deep and the expectations are high.

"I really hope to go really close to my best times, I'm going to try to get on the podium. Last year I got third in the 50 free and hopefully I can get close to that again" said Anna Summers

"Before I get on the blocks I'm always thinking about my race and what I'm swimming and I got through what I'm going to do during the race. Like for my 500, I visualize how I'm going to swim and I can see that time." said Ashley Williamson

Lakeside and Greenbrier have the most swimming this weekend. The diving competition starts on Thursday and then the prelims will be on Friday with everyone hoping to qualify for their shot at the top spot on Saturday.
