AUGUSTA, Ga.-- (WRDW/WAGT) -- The family of the body found on the 300 block of Greene Street has been located and notified.

The coroner says the victim is 31-year-old Christopher Welch. Welch was sent to the GBI Atlanta Lab Wednesday night for an autopsy. The autopsy was completed Thursday.

The results have not been returned back to the Coroner’s Office, but most likely will be weeks. This death is still being investigated as suspicious until results are returned from the autopsy.

UPDATE 2:20 pm

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen says the death of a man on Greene Street is suspicious.

Around 9:20 Wednesday morning, a roommate found a 31-year-old man inside a home on the 300 block of Greene Street. He was pronounced dead shortly after.

Authorities are not releasing the man's name until his family is notified.

The death is being investigated as a suspicious death.

The Sheriff's Office says there are no suspects being sought at this time. The investigation continues.

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- News 12 NBC 26 has learned of a body being found in a home on Greene Street in Augusta.

Investigators were called shortly before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to 312 Greene Street.

The victim, a 31-year-old man, is being sent to the crime lab for an autopsy. His death is being ruled suspicious until an autopsy is performed. No initial indications what may have been the cause.
