(WRDW/WAGT) -- Good Friday is April 14. The holiday is celebrated by Christians to mark the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and is followed by Easter Sunday to celebrate the resurrection of Christ.

While the holiday is widely observed it's not considered a federal holiday.

The next federal holiday is Memorial Day which falls on Monday, May 29.

In the United States, 12 states observe Good Friday as state holiday: Connecticut, Texas, Delaware, Hawaii, Indiana, Tennessee, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, New Jersey, North Carolina and North Dakota.

Since Good Friday isn't a federal holiday for the United States Postal Service, there will be mail delivery on April 14.

Your local post office should be open during regular business hours.
