AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Investigators are looking into who might have shot a woman outside of the Fox Den Apartments late Tuesday night.

According to the incident report, investigators arrived to Trinity Hospital on Tuesday, December 27 around 2:51 a.m. in response to a patient with a gunshot wound.

Investigators say the victim, Jackeela Ragland, told investigators that she was outside the apartment at the 300 block of Fox Trace and heard gun shots.

Ragland stated that for a few seconds she did not realize she had been hit, but then her chest began to hurt and she realized she was struck by the shots. Ragland stated to investigators that she could see what appeared to be a female off in the distance, but could not identify her or give any further description.

According to the incident report, Ragland said she could tell it was a female by the build of the body and the hair. Ragland was then transported to Trinity Hospital by a friend. The friend told investigators that Ragland jokes around a lot and she did not believe her until she saw the blood.

The doctor at Trinity told investigators that there were several wounds in Ragland's torso area, but could not give specific details. Ragland was then transported to Augusta University Medical Center by Gold Cross EMS.

There is still no word on any suspects at this time.
