AUGUSTA, GA (WRDW/WAGT) -- Leaders debated it, and you even voted on it, but there are still no changes to the James Brown Arena a year later.

So, what's the hold up? Some officials, we've learned, are refusing to move forward.

The Augusta-Richmond County Coliseum Authority knows in order to get city money, they have to rebuild the arena downtown.

But four of seven members on the authority say regardless of the time that's passed, their vote has not changed and they are not willing to move forward with plans for the arena downtown.

After years of debates, hundreds of votes cast, and thousands of opinions, the old arena will continue to sit where you see it on 7th Street.

Until members can agree to keep it downtown, no formal work, including studies, estimates, concept drawings, can be done.

So for now, the events at the arena will continue to come while the future of the JBA sits on hold.
