WEATHER ALERT: Hurricane Dorian downgraded to Cat 2 approaching northern S.C. coast

AUGUSTA, GA (WRDW/WAGT) -- Hurricane Dorian is a category 2 hurricane as heads out of South Carolina and up to the North Carolina coast.

According to the National Hurricane Center's 2 p.m. advisory Thursday, Dorian is a category 2 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 110 MPH, and it is moving north northeast at 8 MPH.

"Since the NHC track prediction continues to take Dorian dangerously
close to the southeast U.S. coast, all interests from Georgia
to the Carolinas should remain vigilant to the possibility of
experiencing destructive winds, flooding rains, and life-
threatening storm surges from this hurricane," the center said.
