ATHENS, GA (WRDW/WAGT) -- A man has been arrested after investigators near the University of Georgia say he robbed and shot a school lacrosse player at a bus stop.

Officials arrested Zarren Garner in Gwinnett County. The Athens-Clarke County Police chief made the announcement at a news conference Tuesday morning.

Family members of the victim, identified as Tate Prezzano, say he is on the road to recovery after getting some good rest.

"Based on what Tate went through, which were gunshots around his head and neck area, we're blessed and thankful for the conversation we're having today, that could have been a lot different," family spokesman Dobbin Prezzano said.

As for Garner, officials say he's been charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault.
