Two people dead after an early Saturday morning shooting in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- We are learning more about the double homicide at the Private I Club on Thomas Lane in Augusta.

At about 2:12 a.m., deputies were dispatched after reports of shots fired and one person being shot. When officers arrived on scene, they found 23-year-old Jabrie Dominguez shot. Dominguez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators learned the second victim, 28-year-old Charles Lawson III was also shot in the same incident, but had been transported to the hospital by personal vehicle. Lawson III was pronounced dead at University Hospital.

During the course of the investigation, the Georgia State Patrol and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle leaving the scene. The driver of the car, identified as 19-year-old Antoine Redfield, was detained for questioning.

Redfield was later charged with two counts of murder, aggravated assault, and related gun charges.

The investigation is still on-going and investigators are currently following other leads.

Lawson and Dominguez were transported to the GBI Lab for an autopsy.
