CNN -- The tit-for-tat trade war between the U.S. and China appears to be moving forward.

President Trump says it is "highly unlikely" that he'd accept an offer from China that would prevent the US' plan to boost tariffs on many chinese goods.

That's according to an interview President Trump did with the Wall Street Journal on Monday.

The president also said he might unleash a third round of tariffs on goods from China if he and Xi Jinping can't resolve the trade rift between the two super-powers.

That could result in tariffs on Apple items that come from China like iPhones and laptop computers.

The two leaders are set to meet this week in Argentina at the G20 summit.
