UPDATE | Suspect involved in GSP chase and crash has been caught

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- The suspect involved in a crash that injured a GSP trooper was caught and now faces ten charges. Tips led troopers to a relative's home where they found and arrested Mitchell Martin III, a convicted felon.

Last night, around 11 o'clock, troopers went to the relative's home on Old Savannah Road. They found the red Ducati sports bike that Martin was riding during the police chase at the home. Troopers discovered that the stolen motorcycle from Columbia, SC also had stolen plates from Aiken County, SC.

GSP tells News 12 Martin, who is currently at Webster Dentention Center, is a convicted felon and had a hand gun at the time of his arrest. He is the following ten charges:

Burglary Warrant, Possession Of A Firearm By A Convicted Felon, Receiving Stolen Property, Felony Fleeing And Eluding, Speeding, Reckless Driving, No Insurance, Improper Passing, Fictitious Registration, and No Motorcycle Endorsement.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Georgia State Patrol has released a picture of the suspect investigators say was involved in a crash that injured a trooper.

The crash happened late Thursday night. Trooper Brandon Gandy was trying to stop a red motorcycle when the driver took off. The trooper wound up losing control on the exit ramp, crashing his vehicle. He walked away with an injured hand and foot.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Georgia State Patrol Trooper Brandon Gandy was involved in the late night crash Thursday.

Just before 11:00 p.m., Gandy was trying to conduct a traffic stop with a red motorcycle when the driver sped up to flee. Gandy began a chase on I-520, then took the Wheeler Road exit.

Gandy lost control on the exit ramp, crashing his vehicle. He injured his right hand and right foot in the crash and is being treated at Doctors Hospital.

The tag on the motorcycle belongs to an Aiken County address, where troopers are trying to locate the driver. The suspect is described as a white male riding a red sports bike.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- There are reports of an accident involving a GA State Patrol car at Wheeler Road and Interstate 520 eastbound.

The call came in around 10:40 p.m. There are reports of injuries but the extent of the injuries are unknown at this time.
