ATLANTA, G.a. (WRDW/WAGT) -- There is a new senior resident inspector for construction at the Southern Nuclear Operating Company's Vogtle nuclear plant Units 3 and 4.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has named Brian Kemker as the new senior resident inspector.

Kemker joined the NRC in January 1998 as the resident inspector at Byron Nuclear Station in Illinois. A few years later in 2001, he acted as the senior resident inspector for the Millstone plant in Connecticut, and later on, had duties as the senior resident inspector at the Cook nuclear plant, which is in Michigan.

Just before accepting the job as the new senior inspector for Plant Vogtle nuclear plant Units 3 and 4, he was the senior resident inspector at the Fermi Plant, which is also in Michigan.

"Brian Kemker has the background and dedication to help ensure that construction at the Vogtle site is completed according to NRC regulations," NRC Region II Administrator Cathy Haney said.
