AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- An Augusta-based company has acquired a GPS-based fleet management and technologies company based in Ontario, Canada.
In a press release, Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc., a Textron Inc. company, officially announced the acquisition of TKVGPS, a provider of GPS-based fleet management solutions and GPS technologies that "enhance the on-course experience for golfers."
The features of TKVGPS include 3D mapping and layouts of a golf course, pace-of-play monitoring, odometer monitoring, vehicle travel histories and "geofencing capabilities with remote vehicle shutdown that allow courses to keep vehicles within specified boundaries for safety and security."
The release states TKVGPS’ business will operate as part of Textron Specialized Vehicles’ Golf business. This includes Jacobsen, which announced a combination of operations with Textron Specialized Vehicles last October.
TKVGPS is based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, but will continue its operations in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and Pitesti, Romania. The release states its workforce of 36 employees will remain "largely intact."
