UPDATE | Chase, Hit and Run suspect booked into jail

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- According to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office, Brandon Wade Crist has been booked into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.

Crist is charged for a number of offenses, including DUI and Hit and Run.


11:06 a.m.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Deputies confirm that 25-year-old Brandon Wade Crist is in custody after allegedly stealing a car, then leading a chase.

Crist was taken to an area hospital after being caught by deputies, and will later be arrested and charged with DUI, Reckless Driving, Hit and Run and other charges.

Crist will be booked into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- According to dispatchers, a suspect is in custody after a pursuit involving a stolen vehicle from a landscaping company ends in a crash in downtown Augusta.

According to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, the vehicle was stolen from a grass cutting crew near the Grovetown Wal-Mart. They say crews were working when the suspect walked up, jumped in the vehicle and drove away.

Richmond County dispatchers say the stolen landscaping company vehicle was then involved in a hit-and-run accident on Washington Road near I-20. They say a pursuit then began down Washington Road towards downtown.

According to dispatchers, deputies lost sight of the vehicle.

Dispatch says a deputy spotted it again on Greene Street and resumed the chase.

They say the pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed into multiple county-owned vehicles near the Augusta-Richmond County Municipal Building.

Dispatch says the suspect is in custody.
