AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Food, music, and good conversation; all the makings of a great evening. But there’s a twist, it’s all a surprise.
That’s the point of Pop Up Augusta. Entertainment Coordinator Karen Gordon, Event Coordinator Kigwana Cherry, and Hosting Liason Tametra Tracy worked together to bring the pop-up movement here.
“There will be live music, there will be good food, but unfortunately that’s all I can tell you right now,” said Cherry.
It’s a night out that leaves you guessing until you get there.
“What we’re doing is surprise dinner parties, right? But our goal is to change, create change and inspire conversation, that’s what we really want to do,” said Gordon.
That’s the big picture for the small parties. It’s a way to bring together strangers while showcasing Augusta’s culture with local artists, chefs, and live musicians – all while showing off the city.
“There are a lot of little nooks and crannies in Augusta that a lot of people don’t know about,” said Cherry.
A big focus will be downtown but they could be anywhere; from parks to restaurants, and even a business. Bringing people together while showing off what makes Augusta pop.
“Augusta is ripe for the arts community to sort of come alive and just really be at the forefront,” said Tracy.
