(WRDW/WAGT) – Bacon on mouse traps, mold and plumbing problems. We first showed you all of this at Trinity Manor last year. Today we got their inspection score and it's not good. they scored a 34 out of 100.
As grading goes a 34 is usually not good. The HUD inspection report has pages a pages of issues. A score below a 60 means the owner isn't meeting their end of the bargain and people may not have the quality they deserve.
"As soon as my lease is up, I'm out of here," Timeshia Turner said.
Timesha Turner lives at Trinity Manor. After the rat problem she had she was moved to another unit.
"The space is great, but I'm still having plumbing issues, I'm still having mold issues," Turner said.
Turner isn't the only one. HUD came out to inspect.
"How much longer do I have to complain until I feel comfortable about where I stay at?" Turner asked.
HUD inspected 20 of the 64 units. The report shows 58 health and safety deficiencies. Some of those deficiencies, life threatening.
"It's like where do I have my kids?," Turner asked. "You know what I'm saying? I'm thinking this is a safe place and it's not."
The inspection says if all buildings and units were inspected they estimate a total of 172 deficiencies.
"Basically it's letting me know that they don't care, that they just come here to make a check and that's it," Turner said.
Trinity Manor isn't the only Section 8 housing with problems.
"There's always complaints about maintenance not doing their job," said Belinda Johnson.
Johnson has family staying in HUD Housing. Augusta Properties on Broad Street scored a 26, their previous score an 80.
"They treat them like trash," Johnson said. "And as far as the building's concerned where they stay at same thing... trash."
If you score below a 60 HUD labels the complex "troubled".
"If they would do something about it and renovate it and then maybe the score would be a little higher than what it is now," Johnson said.
Trinity manor is working on fixing the maintenance issues. The owner of Augusta Properties also tells News 12 they're working to bring their score up.
Another issue, a lot of these are overdue for an inspection.
