AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- It's quiet today at the Knights Inn on Boy Scout Road. But the scene left behind from the night before tells a different story.

"We heard the sirens and all of that out there," Jonathan Jones, a hotel guest at the Knights Inn said. "Every time I hear that I'm thinking, what happened?"

Jonathan and his wife say they hid in their room as sirens rushed by.

"The ambulance was out there, the rescue truck was out there," Jones said.

A few doors down, more than five bullets were fired. Some of the bullets broke through the wall into people's rooms.

One of those bullets hit 21-year-old Edwin Colon. Deputies say Colon was arguing with two to three people when one of those people started firing at him.

"Violence is not the key to anything," Jones said. "We've learned that over the years. It proves nothing."

The suspects fled the scene. Deputies and K9 units searched all night for the suspects, but they still haven't found them.

Jonathan says after last night, he's leaving.

"Because I have children. But at the same time, it's life. And it keeps happening over and over again. We've got to put an end to this violence."

The victim was taken to the hospital and is now stable. It's an outcome that could've ended very differently.

"We don't know the cause behind all of it, but we can just pray and hope that everything's alright and that there's another life around."
