AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- A third arrest has been made in the shooting death of Kenneth Porter, 19.

A former student-athlete is now facing a murder charge. 21-year- old Austin O'Shields took off two weeks ago after Richmond County deputies say he shot and killed 19-year-old Kenneth Porter.

He was found all the way in Bateville, Arkansas on March 19, 2019. He was caught by U.S. Marshals and brought back to Augusta, booked in jail on March 27, 2019. A 20-year-old and a 16-year-old have already been arrested in the case.

It all started with the catch of a lifetime on the baseball diamond, almost four years ago today. But after that catch, things quickly spiraled out of control for O'Shields

In the spring of 2015, on a day much like today, things were different for O’Shields.

"High school baseball is back at Lake Olmstead Stadium," said Andrew Schnitker, WRDW's former sports anchor.

It was a catch some right fielders only dream of making.

"North Augusta and Midland Valley. Mustangs and Jackets going at it in the first inning, we've got a great play alert here. Right fielder about to do something amazing. Watch and wait. An unbelievable snag. He goes through the fence to catch it,” said Andrew Schnitker, WRDW's former sports anchor.

A snag so unbelievable, that right fielder Austin O'Shields ends up on Sports Center, featured as one of their top plays.

Then six months later, something a bit more unbelievable happens.

"Aiken Public Safety arresting two suspects in connection with break-ins last night," said Richard Rogers on the 11 p.m news one September night in 2015.

O'Shields was on our TV screens again. This time, he wasn't catching the ball, he was being caught.

"17-year-old Austin O'Shields from Warrenville," said Rogers. "Investigators say they recovered several guns, electronics, and medication that are believe to have been stolen,"

In that case, he was charged with five vehicle break-ins and other charges, and pleaded guilty to one charge. Three days later, he was charged with four vehicle break-ins, and pleaded guilty to one.

In 2017, he was again charged with two counts of vehicle break-ins and pleaded guilty to one.

Again in 2018, he was arrested. This time he's accused of running from deputies after a traffic stop where one deputy fell and injured himself in the process.

Now in 2019, he was arrested again -- this time facing murder charges.

"Austin O'Shields faces murder charges in the death of 19-year-old Kenneth Porter," said Monique Williams, a News 12 anchor on March 28, 2019.

Arrest warrants state he's accused of shooting Porter multiple times, fleeing to Arkansas before US Marshals caught him and brought him back right where he started.

Tomorrow, O'Shields is facing a judge for the first time since fleeing to Arkansas and our cameras will be rolling.

Authorities had already arrested two other suspects, 16-year-old Antoine Stokes and 20-year-old Saxxon Vance.
