AUGUSTA, GA (WRDW/WAGT) -- A South Carolina resident has been arrested and charged following a bank robbery in Augusta.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office says Yohanan Corder, 33, has been charged with armed robbery and is pending extradition from Columbia.

According to sheriff's office spokesperson William McCarty, that bank robbery took place just before 11:30 a.m. at the Synovus bank branch on Wheeler Road.

McCarty says Corder entered the bank and told the teller that he had a explosive device before demanding money.

Corder, according to McCarty, was given an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene heading east on Bobby Jones Expressway in a white Jeep Wrangler with a Florida plate.

Investigators at the scene were quickly able to determine Corder's identity and coordinated with officials in Columbia to locate and arrest him.

Additional charges could be forthcoming.
