MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- South Carolina's largest power producer has submitted a petition to intervene in Public Service Commission proceeding.

The proceeding concerns the proposed merger between SCANA Corp. and Dominion Energy and SCANA’s abandonment of the V.C. Summer Units 2 and 3 project.

Santee Cooper owns 45 percent of the V.C. Summer project. The PSC ruling on the SCANA proceeding may affect interests of Santee Cooper and its customers. Santee Cooper stated that they are intervening as a step to protect those interests.

At this time Santee Cooper is still determining the positions to take in the proceedings.
