UPDATE | Wife accused of killing Bamberg minister

BAMBERG COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- SLED agents arrested a Georgia woman in connection to the shooting death of her husband in Bamberg.

In October, Frank McNair was found dead with a gunshot wound. Annie McNair, 70, was charged on Monday accused of murder in connection to his death, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Murder is a felony which carries a penalty upon conviction of death or a minimum of 30 years to life in prison.

SLED investigated the case along with the Bamberg County Sheriff's Department. McNair was booked into the Bamberg County Detention Center.

BAMBERG COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- The family of Frank and Anne McNair have been stopping by these two homes all day trying to figure out how 40 years of marriage and three children ended in gunfire.

"I'm feeling upset about it, they was good peoples to me. In fact, I was in their wedding when they first got married," said Jeffrey Bynes.

The McNair's cousin Jeffrey Bynes says there were issues in the marriage.

"Whatever the issues are I don't know, but I know she was living separately, " said Bynes. "It's been going on, quite a while," said Bynes.

Now it's over. The Bamberg Sheriff says 70 year old Frank McNair's wife shot and killed her husband and then shot herself.

Deputies say the 70 year old was found dead in a home on Spring Branch Road in Bamberg on Saturday.

"I understand they helicoptered my cousin Anne to Columbia, SC. One of the hospitals in Columbia, SC and that's all I know," said Bynes.

News travels fast in a small town. The news is hitting McNair's former congregation hard.

"It's really, it's disturbing," said Samuels.

In Denmark , South Carolina Frank NcNair was known as a educator and church elder first here at Temple and now at St. Noah church of God in Aiken, S.C.

"He was a man of god and he preached the word. He played organ, he was a man that wore many hats," said Samuels.

James Samuel, who lives right next to McNair's former church, still remembers his sermons.

"Well he talked about how you should live for god and you do not have to live in sin," said Samuels.

The Bamberg Sheriff has turned the investigation over to SLED. Sheriff Ed Darnell says the wife is still in the hospital in Columbia.

McNair was a former Vice Principal at Denmark Olar High School. The principal says they are holding a service for him this Saturday in the school gym. The school is getting back to me on a time.

BAMBERG, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- A Bamberg minister was found dead Saturday morning after an apparent murder suicide, according to Sheriff Ed Darnell.

The sheriff's office said the a woman injured in the incident is the minister's wife, she also allegedly shot her husband. According to the sheriff's office, the wife and husband were not living together. Sheriff Ed Darnell said the wife is at a hospital in Columbia and is in OK condition.

The Bamberg County Coroner said Frank McNair, 70, died from a suspected gunshot wound. He was found dead at a home on Spring Branch Road in Bamberg.

BAMBERG, S.C. (WIS) -- South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating after a Bamberg minister was found dead on Saturday morning.

SLED spokesman Thom Berry confirms the Bamberg County Coroner said Frank McNair, 70, died from a suspected gunshot wound. He was found dead at 1077 Spring Branch Road in Bamberg.

SLED is helping the Bamberg County Sheriff's Office with the case because a woman was found close to McNair with gun shout wounds as well. She as taken to Palmetto Health in Richland, S.C. Her name nor her condition have been released yet.

An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday in Newberry for McNair.
