UPDATE | Funeral arrangements made for victim of Allendale County truck crash

ALLENDALE COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Funeral arrangements have been made for a truck driver in a deadly tractor-trailer crash in Allendale County.

42-year-old Derrick Erving will be laid to rest on Saturday, July 23 at 3 p.m. at the Ridge Spring Civic Center. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, and five sons.

G.L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary is handling the service.

The cause of death in the crash is still pending.

ALLENDALE COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- The second driver in a deadly tractor-trailer crash on Highway 125 in Allendale on Tuesday has been identified.

Allendale County Coroner Marion Riley says the victim was 42-year-old Derrick Erving of North Augusta.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said Darrell Sheldon, 58, was driving south on SC 3 when Erving traveling east on Highway 125, hit Sheldon's tractor trailer.

Erving died at the scene. The cause of death in the crash is pending an autopsy.

Sheldon was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. Troopers said he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.


Tuesday, July 12, 2016 | UPDATE: 10:40 p.m.

ALLENDALE COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Lt. Robinson with the Allendale Sheriff's Office says the roads on Highway 125 are back open.

Around 1:25 p.m. Tuesday two tractor trailers collided, spilling fuel into the road. The South Carolina Highway Patrol said Darrell Sheldon, 58, was driving south on SC 3 when the driver of the second tractor trailer, traveling east on Highway 125, hit Sheldon's tractor trailer.

Sheldon was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. Troopers said he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. The driver of the second tractor trailer died on scene. We are waiting to hear back from the coroner's office about the identity of the second driver.

ALLENDALE COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Highway 125 has shut down in both directions near SC 3, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

There is a fuel spill but it is contained. The spill happened after two tractor trailers collided Tuesday afternoon. The Allendale County Sheriff's Office said one person did die in the crash but the details surrounding the death have not been released.

ALLENDALE COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to a crash on SC 125 at SC 3 Tuesday afternoon.

The crash was reported around 1:25 p.m. with no details on injuries. According to Lt. Robinson with the Allendale County Sheriff's Office, his office received a call for two tractor trailers that collided and ended with a fatality and a chemical spill.
