SC Highway Patrol trooper struck by car fleeing checkpoint has 'great bodily injuries'

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WRDW/WAGT) -- A South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper was struck by car in a hit-and-run on Monday.

The Highway Patrol says the incident occurred around 11 p.m. on Till Road near Langley Road.

Officials say the trooper was struck by a four-door 2016 Honda Accord that was fleeing a driver's license checkpoint.

"The trooper received great bodily injuries as a result of the crash," a statement from the Highway Patrol said.
