AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Georgia's Department of Transportation announced 470 road projects in the state this summer and Augusta wasn't left out.
On Riverwatch Parkway, 200 new lights are up, but the orange cones are still up as well. GDOT says it will be 2-3 weeks before the lights are turned on.
On the other side of Augusta, the intersection of Gordon Highway and Deans Bridge Road is under construction. It's part of a TIA project to add turn lanes and improve lighting. The middle 2 lanes of that 4 lane road are closed this week.
On I-20 at mile marker 194 Westbound, there will be construction each day next week starting at 8 a.m.
Meanwhile, construction and lane closures on Mike Padgett Highway are expected to continue through December. The Mike Padgett Highway was originally scheduled to finish in September.
Two construction projects are expected to start this week on Bobby Jones Expressway. One on the Eastbound part of the highway along mile marker 7, another Westbound at mile marker 9.5. Both projects are expected to come with lane closures.
All of these projects are scheduled to temporarily stop construction Thursday, ahead of a busy Memorial Day weekend.
