UPDATE | Missing Augusta man died from severe head trauma; two men accused in his killing denied bond

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – An Augusta man found dead behind a trailer in Beech Island died from severe head trauma from being shot; the two men accused in his disappearance have been denied bond.

A judge denied bond for both Antonio Simpkins and Steven Jackson. Simpkins is charged with the murder and kidnapping of Julian M. Williams. Jackson has been charged with planning to commit a kidnapping and not telling police about a crime.

The warrant states Simpkins shot, planned to orchestrate and kidnapped Williams by luring him to Beech Island for sex. The warrant states Jackson lied to investigators about knowing of the murder and also played a role with Simpkins in luring Williams to Beech Island for sex.

Autopsy results on Williams revealed that he died from severe head trauma related to being shot. Investigators are treating his death as a homicide.

Wednesday afternoon, the Aiken County coroner said a body found behind an empty trailer on Spider Web Road in Beech Island was Williams.

10:42 p.m.

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – One of the two men accused in the disappearance of an Augusta man is now facing murder charges.

Antonio Simpkins is charged with the murder and kidnapping of Julian M. Williams. Simpkins and another man, Steven Jackson, were arrested as suspects in the case Wednesday morning.

Jackson is now charged with planning to commit a kidnapping and not telling police about a crime.

Wednesday afternoon, the Aiken County coroner said a body found behind an empty trailer on Spider Web Road in Beech Island was Williams. A positive identification is pending the receipt of dental records from a Maryland dentist.

Julian M. Williams was reported missing by his family nearly three weeks ago. Officials say he was last seen waiting for a cab on Broad Street, hoping to go to a woman's house in Beech Island.

An autopsy is scheduled in Newberry, S.C. Thursday morning.

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – The remains found behind an abandoned trailer in Beech Island have been identified as those of a missing 23-year-old.

Julian M. Williams, 23, was reported missing by his family nearly three weeks ago. The coroner's office said the remains found were Williams'.

A positive identification is pending the receipt of dental records from a Maryland dentist. Williams was believed to be living in Augusta at the time of his disappearance, according to the coroner's office.

An autopsy is scheduled in Newberry, S.C. Thursday morning. The manner of death at this time appears to be homicide, according to coroner Tim Carlton.

Steven Ray Jackson, 26, and Antonio Deaunte Simpkins, 24 of Beech Island were arrested around 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, after investigators followed numerous leads and tips. After they were arrested, human remains were found behind an abandoned trailer on the 200 block of Spider Web Road in Beech Island.

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – Two people have been arrested in the kidnapping of Julian Williams, and investigators say more charges are likely to come after human remains were found behind an abandoned trailer in Beech Island.

Steven Ray Jackson, 26, and Antonio Deaunte Simpkins, 24 of Beech Island were arrested around 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, after investigators followed numerous leads and tips. After they were arrested, human remains were found behind an abandoned trailer on the 200 block of Spider Web Road in Beech Island.

Investigators say Julian Williams was last seen at around 2 a.m. on March 26 at the 700 block of Broad Street. It is believed he received a ride to Beech Island from Augusta to meet an unknown woman and was dropped off on Spider Web Road that morning. Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, SLED, and a Canine Search Team conducted numerous searches of the area to find Williams.

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Aiken County Sheriff's Office is conducting a joint investigation with Richmond County Sheriff's Office in trying to find a man last seen on Broad Street.

Julian Williams, 23, was last seen at around 2:00 in the morning on March 25, 2017 on the 700 Block of Broad Street waiting for a cab. It was believed that he was going to the Beech Island area to meet an unknown woman. He was wearing all black clothing.

RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is looking for a missing man.

Deputies say Julian Williams, 23, was last seen at around 2:00 in the morning on March 25, 2017 on the 700 Block of Broad Street waiting for a cab.

Investigators say Williams was possibly going to Beech Island, S.C. to meet an unknown woman. He was wearing all black clothing.
