UPDATE: 11:30 p.m.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- As the search for an accused killer continues, the mother of a murdered Augusta man is sharing memories of the beloved father.

The Southgate Apartments in Augusta is where you'd normally see family reunions for Helen Deshields and her family.

But what's bringing her children together Friday night is the death of her son, 34-year-old Alexis Dashiells. After learning of her son's death, she says her mind immediately started to worry about her four other children.

"That's how I've been feeling all day long and now I just can't stand for them to leave my side because I'm scared that somebody might hurt my kids," Deshields says. "I'm just caught up in the moment right now that when they leave, I'm thinking somebody's going to hurt them."

They've been looking at pictures of the good times as they cope with the loss of the man they called Lelly.

But she says knowing he was allegedly killed by one of his close friends only makes things harder. She's taking time to think of that mother too.

"I'm feeling this pain. My son is gone," Deshields says. "I know she's feeling this pain because he took my son. Ain't no way in the world she cannot feel this pain knowing that her son might get arrested and be gone for the rest of his life."

Answers right now are few and far between. But through the tears, she has a message for her son's alleged killer, 27-year-old Antwon Strader.

"You've got to turn yourself in," Deshields says. "Ain't nobody going to care enough about you know more than you cared about my child. So they might not care about you either, so turn yourself in please."

For now, she says the memories will help ease the pain. She says Lelly was a loving father of four who always had everyone smiling.

"I'm going to remember Lelly like a clown," Deshields says. "That's the clown of the family. Without that clown in the family, we don't have nothing. We have nobody else."

Deshields says Strader and Des got into an argument earlier this week, which may have lead to what happened Thursday night. She says the two were always seen hanging out together and had been friends for years.

Investigators say Strader is armed and dangerous. After being involved in a separate carjacking, he was last seen in a black 2015 Honda Civic with the tag SABE0N.

Strader's whereabouts remain unknown. If anyone has any information, they are asked to call the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.
