UPDATE | Richmond County deputy resigns amid domestic violence charges

RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Deputy Charles Gunn has resigned from the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

Effective Tuesday, he is no longer employed by the sheriff's office.

RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Richmond County Deputies responded to a domestic dispute on the 400 block of Walden Hills Circle involving off-duty Richmond County Deputy Charles Gunn and his wife.

During the course of the investigation, deputies found damage inside the home alleged to have been caused by Gunn as well as signs of a physical altercation between the two.

As a result of the incident, Gunn was arrested and transported to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center and has been charged with 1 count of Simple Battery (Family Violence) and 1 count of Criminal Trespass (Family Violence).

An internal affairs investigation by this agency has been initiated as a result of this incident.
