UPDATE | 2 charged with murder in after body found in burnt car

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Two men from Augusta have been charged with murder.

RCSO authorities say 57-year-old Vinson Goodwin and 32-year-old Joseph Lamar Turner have been arrested after a body was found in a burnt car.

Reports say the body has not yet been positively identified.

Reports also indicate that during the investigation, officials say the original incident location was on the 3000 block of Dent Street.

Details are minimal as the investigation is ongoing.

RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- The Coroner’s Office, Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department are investigating a death after a body found last night in a burnt car.

The Coroner’s Office responded around midnight to 1900 blk Powell Road. The Fire Department says when they arrived, the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Once the fire was extinguished, the body was located in the vehicle.

The body has not been identified due to the condition of the body from the fire. The body has been sent to the GBI Lab and the autopsy will be done in the morning.

Identity will be released once it is known and next of kin notified.
