AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Augusta Cyber Week is coming up September 11th-16th, and this year organizers are expecting thousands of people because of the growing cyber industry.

Organizers say the week is growing larger than cyber conferences in big cities like Atlanta. To meet the needs of companies coming to the area, they're offering training, cyber certificates, and hands on opportunities with programs used to run large cities.

"Our focus is finding highly technical, highly relevant cutting edge changes in technology and bringing those people who are doing these things to Augusta" said Mark Baggett with BSides Augusta.

The guest speakers for the BSides Conference are Russ McRee with Microsoft and Jake Williams with President of Rendition Infosec. BSides will also host more than 15 workshops and other presenters.

There will also cyber security activities, like cyber city.

"The participants will be able to hack into or defend different infrastructure using the same computer systems that are running our nation" said Baggett.

Security Onion will also be hosting a four day training conference for computer security programs. Those who complete the training will receive a certificate.

There are currently more than 500 cyber jobs available right now in Augusta. Organizers say this is a good week to meet those companies.
