AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -A deadly Thursday shooting has deputies still searching for a suspect.

Richmond County investigators tell us when they got to the scene on Ellis Street, a 14-year-old was lifeless on the ground with a gunshot wound. Paramedics took him to the hospital, where he died.

The Sheriff's Office says the shooting was accidental. The suspect is a young boy and he faces one charge of involuntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm by a person under 18.

There are three other teens behind bars with charges unrelated to the shooting. Deputies say they were involved in a burglary just before the 14-year-old's life was taken.

Debroah Presnell can't stop thinking 'what if'.

"They announced the name of the young man who was shot and killed. At first it didn't register, but when it did, it was just shocking," Presnell, a family friend said.

What if he went somewhere else that day? What if he stayed home?

"Camron was with friends. Unfortunately there was a really bad accident. Wrong place at the wrong time."

Deputies say it appears to be an accident. On Thursday, 14-year-old Camron Robinson was shot on Ellis Street.

"Camron was exceptional. When I got to know him, he had a heart of gold, he was sweet, he was bright."

Debroah met his family more than 10 years ago at church. She and her husband mentored his older brother and helped him get into college.

"Since we met him and met the rest of the family we have tried to mentor the whole family and the rest of the boys."

She says Camron was a good kid- outgoing and friendly. She wishes he could've made it to college too.

"I hope that people will understand how important it is for us to give our attention to these young people who may or may not have whole families, whose families are in distress, who need guidance and love and understanding."

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- A teen is on the run tonight. The teen is accused of killing a 14-year-old.

Three other teens are also behind bars. They are being charged for a burglary deputies say happened just before the shooting.

Deputies say they believe the shooting was an accident. A third teen is now behind bars but the one that's accused of killing the 14-year-old is on the run. That teen is charged with involuntary manslaughter.

News 12 spoke with one neighbor who says he always saw these kids walking down the street and yesterday he heard the gunshots.

"I just heard some gunshots, I was right here on my front porch," said Ronnie Smith, who lives on Ellis Street.

Smith lives just a few houses down from where he heard the gunshots. He says not long after, police cars flooded the street.

“I saw the police when all of them came, the coroner, everything," said Smith.

Richmond County deputies say 14-year-old Camron Deshawn Robinson was shot just before three on Thursday afternoon and was taken to Augusta University Medical Center where he later died.

“The one that's deceased I know him and I know his friends," said Smith. “My prayers go out to the family."

Investigators say they have two suspects in custody. One is 16-years-old and the other just 14-years-old.

“Ain't never been nothing like this happened on this street, not that way," said Smith.

As investigators try to piece together what happened here, a community is in shock.

“Life is a treasure you know, you never know," said Smith.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Investigators continue to search for a male juvenile connected to the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old on Thursday.

The juvenile is facing charges of Involuntary Manslaughter and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Under 18.

At this time the shooting is reportedly accidental and considered an isolated incident.

Deputies say they found 14-year-old Cameron Robinson lying on the ground with a gunshot wound when they arrived at the 2000 block of Ellis Street. The teen was transported to AUMC for treatment and later died from the injuries.

Richmond County Investigators say during this investigation they were able to connect the juvenile who allegedly shot Robinson, with 3 other juveniles to a burglary on the 2000 block of Fenwick Street prior to the shooting on Ellis Street.

All the juveniles, except for the shooting suspect, have been arrested and charged with Burglary and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Under 18. All 3 juveniles are currently committed to the Richmond Youth Detention Center.
