COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The man killed in a crash on I-20 Westbound on Saturday has been identified, according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

William Jessup May, 36, from Raleigh, NC, died in the crash, deputies say.

All lanes are back open on I-20 after a deadly crash Saturday afternoon, according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

The single car accident occurred near mile marker 192, between exit 190 and 194, just after 3 p.m. The coroner's office says one person is dead. Deputies say the car drove off the road and hit a tree.

Deputies say the car hit the median guard rail, and then over-corrected to the right. That caused it to onto the shoulder and then off-road. It then drove into a drainage ditch where it hit multiple trees before coming to a stop.

Deputies say the driver died from blunt-force trauma.
