AUGUSTA, Ga (WRDW/WAGT) -- Investigators are looking into a man found dead at Olive Pointe Apartments on Essie Mcintyre Boulevard off 15th street.
"He didn't bother anybody that's why this murder seems so senseless," Cleophus Scott said.
Richmond County investigators say someone shot 32-year-old Rommie Williams. Fiends on scene are in disbelief.
"I don't know who would do this to him," Shalanda Tucker said. "I just hope they will turn them self in and make this easy on us because this is a hard thing to deal with."
A roommate found Williams at Olive Pointe Apartments, once known as Sunset Villas.
"If you needed something he was always right there to provide. He would give you the coat off his back actually, he would," Scott said. "That's why I don't understand what happened."
The coroner says Williams died from at least one gunshot wound, leaving his friends hurt and confused. Tucker is just one of them. She called him Roman.
"I'm feeling messed up because Roman was a good guy," Tucker said. "He didn't do nothing to nobody, he had a genuine heart, he was always there if you needed something and he would give it to you."
Investigators took neighbors, one by one, into their cars for interviews. District Attorney Natalie Paine was also there as investigators bagged up evidence and towed two cars from the scene.
"I just hope that they'll be able to close this case and just find out who did this to him to this senseless murder," Scott said.
For now, grieving friends and family are left with more questions.
"I don't know who did it and I don't care, I just hope we get to the bottom of it. I mean, I just don't know," Tucker said.
Williams will have an autopsy at the GBI Lab tomorrow and the Richmond County Sheriff's Office's CID is investigating this case. They have not yet identified a suspect in the case.
