Netflix show sparks wave of "Tidying Up"

(CNN) -- Netflix has a new show that's taking the streaming service by storm, while also spurring people to clean up their homes.
Netflix released the series "Tidying Up with Marie Kondo," a minimalist
home/life improvement show based on the wildly popular 2014 book "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up".
The show stars the book's author, Marie Kondo. Her ritual is to have someone touch each article of clothing they own and have them ask themselves, does this spark joy? If the answer is no, the item goes in a donation pile.
The series follows Kondo as she goes to different homes to help organize spaces. Apparently, watching someone tidy up on television has inspired people to take Kondo's advice in their own lives.
Officials with Goodwill say they typically see more donations in the beginning of the year due to resolutions, but the Netflix series has put an extra push in donations.
