AUGUSTA, GA (WRDW/WAGT) – Sometimes, all it takes is a call to get action and there has been a lot of action in our Call for Action office this month.
Every Tuesday for the last eight years, Diana and other volunteers have answered your calls.
“We’ve got some really good news. All of the volunteers are working really hard,” Diana said.
First, there was the lady with the fence.
“She had actually put up a $30,000 fence and a long piece of it was leaning. She could not get the contractor to come,” Diana said.
“I called, and she told me later he called and came back the next day and said, ‘Make sure [to] call Channel 12 and say we got the fence fixed.”
Another caller had a problem with his cable bill.
"Another gentleman called in, we saved him $330 on a cable bill. He could not get that resolved, but we did,” Diana said.
Then there was the daughter who called about her parents.
“The gentleman was 90, the lady was 86. They had dementia and they signed a contract with a home security company,” Diana said.
Our volunteer, Terry, helped another caller with a different security company.
“She saved a viewer $1,000 with a security company contract,” Diana said. “She gave the right advice and the viewer called the company and that worked out real well.”
Terry also helped get a gentleman his $450 back on concrete work that wasn’t actually done. Gretchen saved two patients thousands after they called her.
“She also saved $1,900 and $1,500 in another instance for two patients at a dental company,” Diana said.
In the last month, our volunteers have saved viewers more than $7,300.
“It’s really a great service to be able to help folks,” Diana said.
You call, and they get action.
Our volunteers not only helped viewers get their money back, but also helped a neighborhood get its trash restored and was able to get an impounded car returned to the owner.
