AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Authorities say a driver of a 2003 Ford Explorer, Samuel Cheatham, who tried to pass a motorcycle, killing Bette A. Lucas, will not serve his 10-year prison sentence after being in jail three months.
Authorities say Cheatham plead guilty, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. He served 86 days in jail, and now has three years probation after his sentence being suspended.
Lucas was the driver of a 2004 Honda motorcycle that was struck by a Ford Explorer -- operated by Cheatham -- in 2016.

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- The Aiken County Coroner says the victim in a fatal motorcycle accident is Bette A. Lucas, 57.
The coroner says Lucas was pronounced dead at Palmetto Richland Health in Columbia, S.C. at around 2:15 Saturday afternoon. Her cause of death is multiple body trauma.
Lucas was the driver of a 2004 Honda motorcycle that was struck by a Ford Explorer around 8 o'clock Saturday morning.
Investigators say Lucas was riding with a group and was trying to make a left turn into a house on Wagener Trail Road when the driver of the Explorer tried to pass other motorcycles, hitting Lucas.
The coroner reports the driver of the Ford Explorer tried to flee the scene, but law enforcement caught him.
An autopsy is scheduled in Newberry, S.C.

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- One person is dead after a motorcycle accident on Wagener Trail Road in Aiken County.
South Carolina Highway Patrol says the crash happened at around 8:40 Saturday morning on Wagener Trail Road, just about a mile south of Wagener.
Troopers say the victim was driving a motorcycle without a helmet at the time. She was reportedly driving west down the road and was trying to turn left into a private driveway.
Investigators say the driver of a 2003 Ford Explorer, Samuel Cheatham, 28, tried to pass the motorcycle, and struck the driver.
There were two passengers in the Ford Explorer. No one in the car reported any injuries.
The identity of the motorcycle driver has not been released yet.
