Man charged after threatening Aiken County Sheriff

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has arrested and charged an Aiken County man after making threats against Aiken County Sheriff Michael Hunt and injuring a SLED agent after the man was taken into custody.
David Solomon Ballard , 33, was charged with threatening life, person, or family of a public official, according to a news release. If convicted, Ballard could spend up to five years in prison, face a fine of up to $5,000, or both.
Ballard is also charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, a felony with a penalty upon conviction of up to 20 years in prison.
Ballard remains booked in the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.
