COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- The Columbia County Coroner has released details on the victim involved in the deadly I-20 westbound crash involving four cars.

Coroner Vernon Collins said the victim was a male soldier stationed at Fort Gordon. The military is currently notifying the victim's family. Once that has been done, the victim's name will be released to the public.

Collins said the victim was alone in his car, when he stopped in the line of traffic heading into the construction area between mile marker 194 to 190. That's when a pick-up truck slammed into him, shoving the soldier's car into the vehicle in front of him.

The victim was wearing his seat belt, but the force of the impact tossed him forward and his head hit the dashboard, according to Coroner Collins.

Major Steve Morris said they are still working to identify the truck driver and any charges.
