HARLEM, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- The Harlem Fire Department confirmed they responded to a house on Lamkin Road for a possible structure fire caused by a lightning strike.
They say first arriving units found damage to the residence consistent with a lightning strike but no fire.
They also say damage to the roadway in front of the residence was found along with a broken water main.
Harlem Public Works is currently addressing the water main issue. Avoid the area if possible and stay weather aware throughout the evening.
HARLEM, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Columbia County dispatch confirms fire rescue is on the scene of a house possibly struck by lightning on Lamkin Road in Harlem.
The call came in at 5:27 p.m. According to dispatch, there are no injuries and the house did not catch on fire.
News 12 got in touch with the family who says they saw a lightning strike hit the side of their house. They say they are all okay and there is no damage to the inside of the home. They say they haven't checked the outside for damage yet.
