AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- As the storm approaches hotel are beginning to fill up fast.
Home 2 Suites by Hilton, the Ramada, and the Sheraton have all booked up already. The DoubleTree on Perimeter Parkway are all booked up for Thursday and Friday, and they say they only have room left for Wednesday.
Choices are becoming limited.
With Hurricane Florence spinning in the Atlantic, some people in the Charleston area have already made up their mind. They’re headed to Augusta.
Hotel phones are ringing non-stop.
“We are the closest inland area, Augusta where you can come and still be out of harms way,” said Tijuana Jenkins, General Manager at Partridge Inn.
Tijuana Jenkins says rooms here are filling up fast.
“We have some rooms tonight, we have a few rooms tomorrow night. Currently, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday we are indeed sold out.”
Partridge Inn isn’t the only on almost fully booked. Other hotels like West Bank Inn and Red Roof Inn only have a few rooms left. La Quinta Inn is completely booked on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
“Depending on the trajectory of the storm we could have people canceling and other people needing accommodation so I suggest everyone to continuously check all of the mobile and media apps, “ she said.
Jenkins says she just wants to make sure everyone has a safe place to stay during the storm.
“I spoke to my chief engineer today and we were talking about, maybe getting cots if it became that. As opposed to them not having a safe place to be. We could put them in meeting spaces and make it more like a shelter.
Jenkins says in these types of situations they are not as strict with cancellations or their pet policy as well.
