(WRDW/WAGT) -- The Board of Natural Resources has set the dates for the 2019-2020 migratory bird season and made some changes to the regulations.
Duck hunting season will now end on January 31st each year, instead of the last Sunday in January like previous years.
There are also changes to bag limits for Mallards and Pintail. Greg Balkcom, state waterfowl biologist for the Wildlife Resource Division says, “the daily bag limit for Mallards dropped to two this year, with no more than one hen, and the Pintail bag limit dropped to one. These bag limit changes are responsive to population levels for these species”.
Canada Goose season dates: September 7-29, October 12-27, November 23-December 1, December 12-January 31.
Teal: September 14-29
Ducks: November 23-December 1, December 12-January 31
Youth Waterfowl Days (17 and Under): November 16-17 (Geese, Ducks, and Mergansers)
