Georgia Power issuing first of three refunds to residential customers

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Customers of Georgia Power can expect the first of three $25 credits this month (April).

The Georgia Public Service Commission approved $330 million dollars in refunds to Georgia Power Company customers over the next three years.

The refunds are said to total $70 over the three year period for a customer using 1000 kilowatt hours per month. All refunds will be based on a customer’s actual base billings.

The first of the three refunds will be issued in October 2018 for the months of January through August 2018 resulting in a refund of approximately $27 for a 1,000 kWh customer. The second refund will be issued in June 2019 for the months of September 2018 through April 2019 resulting in a refund of approximately $20, and the third refund will be issued in February 2020 for the period of May 2019 through December 2019 resulting in a refund of $22.
