Gas leak that prompted evacuations shut off, roads reopen

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- A gas leak on Evans to Locks Road has been shut off after it caused a road closure and a daycare evacuation in Columbia County on Thursday.

Evans to Locks Road was closed at Blue Ridge Drive, and a nearby daycare was evacuated. The roadway has opened back up and the children were taken to nearby Blue Ridge Elementary School.
