Four people safe after fire engulfs top floor of N. Augusta home

NORTH AUGUSTA, SC (WRDW/WAGT) -- Four people made it safely out of a burning home that has "heavy, significant damage," according to the Midland Valley Fire Department.

Assistant Fire Chief Clay Chipley says firefighters were called to a home on Pearson Avenue around 2:15 p.m. and arrived to see the home engulfed in flames.

Midland Valley, Belvedere, Beech Island, NADPS, ACSO, and Langley Fire departments were on the scene to help extinguish the blaze that took about 20-25 minutes to manage.

The top floor of the home in a total loss, Chipley said.

The cause remains under investigation.
