DENMARK, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- A former member of the South Carolina House of Representatives donated $5,000 to the Bamberg School District.
Officials with the schools say Bakari Sellers presented superintendent Dr. Thelma Sojourner a $5,000 check on Monday.
The award is the result of a recent Twitter challenge made by Sellers, that when he reached 100,000 followers, he would donate $5,000 for teacher supplies to support his under-served hometown of Denmark.
